Research Paper Topics For Cultural Anthropology
Research Paper Topics For Cultural AnthropologyCultural Anthropology is a field of study that examines the relationships between culture and human communities. It traces the origins of culture to prehistoric times, and works towards understanding the role of culture in the modern world. Cultural anthropology is a specific branch of anthropology, which studies how different cultures have interacted with each other and with modern society. This can be observed in the forms of art, literature, music, dance, cuisine, music, clothing, etc. There are many researchers working in this field, and they are mostly divided into three groups: sociocultural anthropologists, psychoanalytic anthropologists, and identity psychologists. Sociocultural anthropologists deal mainly with social structures; for example, they examine the existence of social hierarchies, personal relations among women, ethnic boundaries and gender. They also look at relationships between cultural and social structures, and in this field, they study such factors as family values, inter-ethnic communications, and marital status. Psychoanalytic anthropologists study these complex psychosocial processes within the individual. Some examples of their work include the study of trauma, neurosis, and the development of personality, as well as how people work through trauma.Identity psychologists focus on psychological processes and characteristics that underlie individual differences. In this field, they investigate such aspects as the nature of personality, and they also explore the nature of group identification. These researchers are trying to answer questions such as how people in different groups interact with each other, what makes a group cohesive, and how identity is formed. The psychoanalytic cultural anthropologists tend to be critical. They look at the nature of mental processes in various ways. For example, they look at how culture affects intelligence, self-esteem, behavior, and the way in which peopl e experience depression. Some of these psychologists go as far as claiming that culture is a major contributor to all types of mental illness.Identical to the psychoanalytic cultural anthropologists, identity psychologists emphasize the fact that culture shapes our mental processes. They write extensively about the ways in which culture shapes the way in which we relate to others. One example of this is the fact that cultures with stable hierarchies tend to display differences in the ways in which people interact with each other, as they have different relationships with the dominant. On the other hand, the sociocultural anthropologists tend to be independent thinkers. They are most often classified as critical theorists. They focus on the sociological and cultural differences between different societies. However, unlike the psychoanalytic cultural anthropologists, sociocultural anthropologists do not focus on structural factors but rather, they identify the basis of different social systems. The sociocultural anthropologists examine the development of social systems. They analyze various societies and study how their social systems have developed. They also make use of sociological theories to explain the different patterns of development and social systems in different societies. An example of this field of study is the study of indigenous cultures in the Pacific region. The two previous discussed aspects are common to all cultural anthropologists. However, there are certain fields that distinguish between the areas of the study. Although many anthropologists specialize in only one particular area, some anthropologists focus more on a particular type of culture, while some focus on a particular aspect of cultural anthropology.
