Education Should Be Free Essay
Education Should Be Free EssayOne of the main debates concerning the goal of education is whether or not it should be free. Obviously, an education should be free and anyone should be able to obtain it. This essay will discuss why education should be free and what it would mean for the future of America.Education is a very expensive enterprise. A college education can cost millions of dollars. Just a single semester in school can cost thousands. The truth is that as much as education is overrated, we can't continue to keep up with the ridiculous price tags that accompany it. It is one of the reasons why many people have decided to start their own businesses. Many parents in the United States are also worried about how they are going to pay for the daycare that their children are going to need if they get out of school. As they all know, the daycare bill will cause a major hole in their wallet. Many people now realize that the only way to actually afford an education is to go back to s chool. We also live in a society where most people spend most of their time working in their own home. In addition, the only time that most people actually do go to school is when they return from their military service. If you look at the statistics, it is pretty easy to see that the number of people going to school has actually been steadily decreasing for the past several decades. If this trend continues, it will only make going to school more expensive in the near future. If you think about it, it makes sense to have a free education. With a free education, more people will have the opportunity to attain a college degree. If more people have a degree, the unemployment rate will drop dramatically.Furthermore, if you look at the life experience that most people have to go to school, they do not have the time or the resources to pursue a college degree. An education is only available to those who have the time and resources to attend a college. Therefore, if everyone was able to go t o school without having to pay a cent, we would see a decrease in the number of people going to school because there would not be a need for the available students.Another big advantage of having a free education is that it will attract more people to pursue a career in education. Currently, it seems like there is a shortage of qualified and willing employees. Thus, it is safe to say that the argument that a free education should be government funded is moot. It will actually be better for society and everyone in it because of the increased number of people with a legitimate opportunity to study and to go to school.
